Guess whose back? and Musical Theatre time!

(Me, if you hadn't guessed!)
So after busily revising for my exams (which are coming thick and fast now) I've decided to return to my blog! Thank you for my pageviews, you guys are awesome!
As I said, I'm quite eclectic, so I geek out about many things! One of my main passions is Musical Theatre ; which combines my love of singing and theatre perfectly!  As you can imagine I don't have a 'favourite' as there are way too many brilliant shows to chose from! But I shall tell you a couple of my dream roles! (Not in order!)

1) Elphaba - Wicked
She is such an incredible and complex character and I love that we get to learn the Wicked Witch's back-story and why she's how she is! I've always had a tendency to root for the antagonist and how can you not love Elphie? I'm so happy I get a chance to perform as her in my Musical Theatre Society show!

2) Scaramouche - We Will Rock You
Who doesn't love Queen? I love Scara's personality and attitude throughout the musical. I also love her determination to be diferent and stay true to herself! Psyched to see WWRY in London in July!

3) Christine - Phantom of the Opera

To be seduced by the Phantom and Raoul? Pure heaven! Especially if it's Ramin Karimloo and Hadley Fraser *wink wink* I'd love to be able to reach those high notes near the end of the title song ; it's my target vocal range.

4)Audrey - Little Shop of Horrors
Little Shop has to be one of my favourite musicals of all time due to the catchy songs and awesome characters. I'd love to play Audrey's ditzy character as it's so different from my own and I'd also love to see how I'd look blonde!

5) Columbia-The Rocky Horror Picture Show
I adore Columbia! She's the baby of the group but has an awesome personality! Her's and Eddie's relationship is so cute and her costumes are incredible!

As I said, that's not all of my dream roles but some of the ones that came to my head! I would be incredibly honored to play any of these roles on stage and aspire to get there someday!

Until next time,

Live Long and Prosper

Star Trek: Into Darkness (No Spoilers)

On Saturday I saw the new Star Trek film... it was incredible! I haven't seen the previous film, so I went in not really knowing what to expect and I was blown away! Mini review time!

Cast:
In my opinion all the characters were played by the perfect actors for the job and were so similar to the actors to the original series (which I have just started to watch- it's so good!) I am quite biased when it comes to Mr Cumberbatch as I am a long time fan of his, so I enjoyed his scenes immensely. *wink wink*

Plot: (Not giving anything away)
The story immersed me totally and kept me engaged from start to end (which is a feat in itself!) As I mentioned, I haven't seen the first film, but this didn't matter as I felt the film stood alone and informed me of the back-story as the film went along.

Characters:
I knew of some of the iconic characters such as Spock, Scotty and Kirk so I recognized them easily, but the film introduced me to new characters which I now love, such as Chekov, Pike, Bones and Uhura. They made me laugh, cry and feel empathy for them ; a sign of a good movie and cast!
Favourite character: It's a three way tie between Spock, Scotty and John Harrison.

Rating: 9/10

So I am now a converted Trekkie and desperately need to see the first film and all the series! I might be starting to learn Klingon soon!

Until next time!

Bonjour my fellow geeks! (Bit of an intro!)

So... I've finally succumbed and made my own blog!

I'm Lauren, by the way and I'm from the sunny land of Wales! I like all things geeky and am known as a bit of a swot! I'm quite arty and musical, so I geek out about quite a lot of things! I'm not your typical teenage girl as you'll probably soon find out!  I'm a whovian, sherlockian, soon to be trekkie, dwarfer and member of a range of other numerous fandoms! My first 'official' post will be coming up shortly!

Feel free to chat as I'm open to anything!

Live long and prosper,
